Until today NET(National Eligibility Test) was compulsory for the appointment of Assistant Professors in Colleges as well as Universities. But now NET is not Compulsory to become a Professor Latest News or to be appointed as assistant professor in colleges/universities. According to the latest and breaking news now HRD Ministry and University Grants Commission(UGC) amended the minimum qualification for Assistant Professor. According to the new amendment HRD Ministry provided relaxation in the minimum eligibility conditions for the appointment/recruitment of assistant professors. Details are below :
The new amendment was announced by HRD Minister Ms. Smriti Irani. Ms Irani said that the candidate who completed a PhD or registered for one before 2009 would be eligibile for lectureship even without clearing National Eligibility Test(NET).
This was demanded by the candidate since long. This will help to build a larger and talented pool of teachers for teaching jobs. “There has been a long-standing challenge faced by researchers/aspiring teachers. The UGC today in conjunction with the government has taken this decision,” Irani said.
According to regulations of 2009 minimum qualification for the appointment of teachers/assistant professors in colleges and universities will have to be a postgraduate/MPhil and has to clear NET/SET(State Level Eligibility) Test to become a lecturer in any college/university. Previously The Supreme Court also said that it would help in maintaining the standards of Higher Education in the Country.
The Latest News of making NET no longer compulsory will provide relief to thousands and thousands of students who want to become a teacher/professor in college/university. However, there are certain conditions which should be fulfilled if any one want exemption. These conditions are candidates’s PhD degree must be availed as regular mode and not part time mode. His/Her research thesis must be approved and evaluated by at least two external examiners. Also He/She must be appeared for viva-voce and his/her as least two papers must be published in research journals based on the PhD thesis.
